Some people believe that stress is inevitable during the holiday season.  Well, I've decided that this year we aren't buying into that and I'd love for you to join us at Freedom Culture and TAKE BACK THE HOLIDAYS!  Last year I tried so hard to create the perfect Christmas....ya right!!  That resulted in me having a bit of a meltdown Christmas morning as I began to realize that everything wasn't as perfect as I'd fantasized it would be.  I still want to have the best Christmas ever but now I realize that I've got to get some perspective and chill out.  I'm also implementing these 5 tips.  I'll be staying accountable to all of you on facebook and we'd love to hear back from you about how the holiday season is going and if these tips have helped relieve stress.

I know this one is obvious, but here's how we're doing it differently this year.  We're getting serious.  I am kind of an anti-planner because I feel like it boxes me in a bit (confession time) but I now realize that the less I plan the less I am able to do.  That results in being late, not completing things because I'm late for something else which then puts me in a bad mood.  So grab your smartphone get out your calendar look at the month and realistically see how many days there are in December.  There's only so much you can do.  Put in the "must do's".  Go ahead, do it now.  I'll be here when you get back.  Then, put in the stuff you'd really like to do.  For me, it's watching "It's A Wonderful Life" with Jimmy Stewart.  If you haven't seen that put it in your calendar now.  You'll thank me.

2) Learn to Say NO!:

Stop trying to do EVERYTHING!  It just won't happen.  Do what you can and what you want to, and get over the rest.  This year, I was asked to sing at our church's Christmas Spectacular.  I would've loved to.  I love the song.  I love singing. It would have made my Mom and Dad happy but I knew that this year it just would've been too crazy and would've played out something like this...

Me: "OMG!!!! I have to sing tonight.  I've had no time to practice."

My Man:  "Stick the track on in the car and practice while we drive."

The kids: "Seriously?!"

Me to the kids: "Guys! put on your freakin' dress shoes and BE NICE"

Me in the car: "Does it sound good?"

My Man:  "I've heard you do better, if you want an honest answer"

Me:  "I know, but I had no time.  AHHHHHH!!!!!!!!"

So , I said no!  They'll forgive me and next year I'm going to KILL it

3) Download A Free Gift Tracking APP:

I am using mGifts.  It's awesome. You can input all the people on your list, include your budget, as well as track the stages, "need", "purchased", "wrapped".  Phew!   Just trying to keep track of that stuff  alone is enough to get overwhelmed.  Now, you don't have to!

4) Stop Wrapping Gifts:

Say What?!?  Ok, I love pretty packages just as much as the next person, but you can achieve that without the wrap.  A few years ago we purchased decorative boxes from Costco.  This year we added to the collection from the dollar store.  I grabbed some tissue paper, ribbon and voila!  gorgeous gifts in a quarter of the time.  You can send me a quick thank you on facebook this Christmas eve when your gifts are all wrapped and you're actually heading to bed at a decent time.  The bonus of it all is that they are reusable, there is way less mess, garbage and you can get them to match your Christmas decor.....LOOKING GOOD & DOING GOOD, PEOPLE!!!!

This is the MOST important of all.  Why? Because that's what this season is all about, no matter what your belief system.  All the worlds major religions and religious figures all spoke to the fact that giving to your fellow man was not only good for the world but good for the soul.  In fact, I read article an article in the Huffington Post about a scientific study that discovered  just thinking about being charitable activates the same part of the brain,  associated with the pleasure of eating and sex.  So start giving you sexy thang!!  You can get started here at Freedom Culture  for gifts that give twice.  They give once to your person and also give  to the fight to end sex trafficking.    It's quick, it's easy, and it makes a difference to those affected by the horrific realities of sex trafficking.

:  Pinterest is your new best friend.  I will almost 100% guarantee that the special someone on your list has a board named, "Products I love", "My Style" or even more blatant "Want".  Look at what she has pinned and get shopping.  She will be amazed at how connected you two are and how you know here so well (wink, wink).  You're Welcome!

So do you think these tips are helpful?  Are you going to give it a shot.  Comment on our facebook or below and let us know if you're committed to lessening the stress this holiday season.   Don't forget to share this with your friends.  Let's start a revolution of happy, stress free Holiday-ers!

Standing For Freedom,

Cheryl and The Freedom Culture Team
